Gold Medal Ales are produced monthly in recognition of some of the 'greats' of history.

On June 17th 1823 Charles Macintosh patented a rubberised cloth for making rainwear. Macintosh was a brilliant chemist, with
acheivements in bleaching, dyeing and steel making, but he is best remembered for his Mackintoshes (Note the extra K) made from the world’s first rainproof cloth. These coats allowed outdoor types to pursue their various interests without too much fear of over exposure to the elements.
